How to Delete Contacts from Google Account
In today’s digital age, managing contacts is an essential part of staying connected with friends, family, and colleagues. Google Contacts is a popular tool that allows users to store and organize their contacts in one place. However, there may come a time when you need to delete contacts from your Google account for various reasons, such as duplicate entries or outdated information. In this article, we will guide you through the process of deleting contacts from your Google account step by step.
Step 1: Sign in to your Google account
The first step in deleting contacts from your Google account is to sign in to your Google account. To do this, visit the Google Contacts website (https://contacts.google.com/) and enter your email address and password. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, you may need to enter a verification code sent to your phone.
Step 2: Navigate to the contacts list
Once you have signed in, you will be taken to your Google Contacts dashboard. Here, you will see a list of all your contacts. To delete a contact, simply locate the contact you want to remove from the list.
Step 3: Select the contact to delete
To select a contact, click on the contact’s name. This will open a detailed view of the contact’s information. If you want to delete multiple contacts at once, you can hold down the “Ctrl” (or “Cmd” on a Mac) key and click on each contact you want to delete.
Step 4: Delete the contact(s)
With the contact(s) selected, you will see a “More” button (three vertical dots) on the top right corner of the screen. Click on this button, and a dropdown menu will appear. Select “Delete” from the menu to delete the contact(s).
Step 5: Confirm the deletion
After selecting “Delete,” a confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. Click “Delete” again to confirm the deletion of the contact(s). The selected contact(s) will be removed from your Google account.
Step 6: Empty the trash
If you have deleted any contacts, they will be moved to the trash folder. To permanently delete the contacts from your Google account, you need to empty the trash. To do this, click on the “Trash” link on the left-hand side of the screen. You will see a list of deleted contacts. Click on the “Empty trash” button at the top of the list to permanently delete all the contacts in the trash folder.
By following these simple steps, you can easily delete contacts from your Google account. Remember that once a contact is deleted, it cannot be restored, so make sure you have the necessary information before proceeding. Happy organizing!
